Straw gold colour with notes of lemon, lime and buttery oak undertones. Rounder bottle age characters are becoming more evident however the wine retains good freshness and vibrancy on the palate with good overall structure and flavour length. Rosewood has one of the very few commercial crops of this unique variety in the world.
In 1999 researchers identified it as a parent of Chardonnay and Riesling and a number of other varieties. Enjoy to 2023.
"The back label says Gouais is the ‘parent plant of chardonnay and Riesling, and a number of other varieties'. To be precise, 81 varieties. Gleaming golden green; good weight, with no trace of oxidation. This has seen some oak along the way, but the impact is subtle, and the wine is fresh." James Halliday
